RHI Scheme to promote UK Biomass Heating

The recently announced RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) scheme, will help to promote the installation of many forms of renewable energy heating by offering govenment backed financial support to the end customer.

Begining with the Premium Payment scheme in August 2011, the scheme will aim to promote the use of Biomass, Heat Pump and Solar Thermal systems in the UK. Under the scheme individuals will be able to claim a payment under the RHI  by metered use of the system fitted.

The new scheme goes live in August 2012, but in the meantime a payment of £950 for a biomass system will be made.

For some installations, this could produce payments of over £1000 per year, giving excellent payback on capital costs. Whilst also contributing for a twenty year period.
